I was in a gathering that included Saad bin Malik and Ibn Umar when Abdullah bin Salam passed by. They said, "This is a man from among the people of Paradise."So I got up and said to him, "They said such and such about you."He replied, "Glory be to Allah! It was not proper for them to say what they have no knowledge of. I only saw in a dream what appeared to be a pillar placed in a green meadow and set upright within it. At its top was a handhold, and at its base was a minsaf," and a minsaf is a young servant boy."It was said to me, 'Climb it.' So I climbed until I took hold of the handhold. I related this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Abdullah will die while holding fast to the most trustworthy handhold.'"
حدثنا محمد بن عمرو بن عباد بن جبلة بن أبي رواد حدثنا حرمي بن عمارة حدثنا قرة بن خالد عن محمد بن سيرين قال قال
كنت في حلقة فيها سعد بن مالك وابن عمر فمر عبد الله بن سلام فقالوا هذا رجل من أهل الجنة فقمت فقلت له إنهم قالوا كذا وكذا قال سبحان الله ما كان ينبغي لهم أن يقولوا ما ليس لهم به علم إنما رأيت كأن عمودا وضع في روضة خضراء فنصب فيها وفي رأسها عروة وفي أسفلها منصف والمنصف الوصيف فقيل لي ارقه فرقيت حتى أخذت بالعروة فقصصتها على رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ يموت عبد الله وهو آخذ بالعروة الوثقى
