I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, while he was among his companions, "I will be at the Pool waiting for those of you who will come to me. By Allah, Some men will be cut off from reaching me, and I will say, 'My Lord, they are from me and from my community.' He will reply, 'You do not know what they did after you. They kept turning back on their heels.'"
Muslim narrated the hadith of Yahya bin Salim from Ibn Khuthaym from Ibn Abu Mulayka from Ayesha concerning the Hawd (basin), and in it, "Then I will say, my companions."Abu Hasan said, "Hind bin Khalid corroborated Yahya bin Salim and narrated it from Ibn Khuthaym in the same way." Ahmad bin Hanbal reported this from Affan from him.Abu Hasan also said, "Ibn Khuthaym is daif."Nafi bin Umar narrated from Ibn Abu Mulayka from Asma bint Abu Bakr, and also from Ibn Amr.
Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib that he is saduq. As for Nafi bin Umar, al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib that he is thiqah, thabt. Al-Hafiz Dhahabi said in al-Mizan, in the biography of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, that Ibn Dawraqi reported from Ibn Main that his hadiths are not strong, while Ahmad bin Abu Maryam reported from Ibn Main that he is thiqah, hujjah. He also said on another occasion, "He cannot be relied upon as proof." Nasai said, following his hadith "Use kohl," and so on, in abbreviated form. Al-Hafiz added in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib that Nasai said, "Thiqah," and on another occasion said, "He is not strong." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the thiqahs and said, "He used to make mistakes." Ibn Saad said, "Thiqah." Ibn Madini said that he is munkar al-hadith, and so on, in abbreviated form. From this it becomes clear that the best that can be said of his condition is what al-Hafiz stated in al-Taqrib, that he is saduq.
