Nafi reported,

Abu Lubabah bin Abdul Mundhir al-Ansari used to live in Quba and then moved to Madinah. While Abdullah bin Umar was sitting with him as he was opening a small window of his, they suddenly came upon a snake of the kind that dwells in houses. They wanted to kill it, but Abu Lubabah said, "There has been a prohibition against killing them," meaning the snakes that dwell in houses, "but the order was given to kill the short-tailed snake and the one with two white streaks on its back. It is said that these two are the ones that snatch away eyesight and cause women to miscarry."
