Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

A son was born to one of our men, and he named him Muhammad. We said to him, "We will not allow you to take the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ kunya until you seek his permission."So he went to him and said, "A son has been born to me, and I have named him after the Messenger of Allah, but my people have refused to let me take his kunya until I seek the Prophet's ﷺ permission."He said, "Name yourselves with my name, but do not take my kunya, for I have only been sent as a divider, apportioning among you."
