Ayesha reported,

Ayesha reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had arranged with Jibreel a time at which he would come to him. That hour arrived and Jibreel did not come. The Prophet had a staff in his hand, and he set it down and said, "Allah does not break His promise, nor do His messengers."Then he turned and saw a puppy under his bed.He said, "Ayesha, when did this dog get in here?"She replied, "By Allah, I had no idea."So he gave orders and it was put out. Then Jibreel came.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You made an appointment with me, and I sat waiting for you, but you did not come."Jibreel said, "The dog that was in your house kept me away. We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image."

حدثنا إسحق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي أخبرنا المخزومي حدثنا وهيب عن أبي حازم بهذا الإسناد أن جبريل وعد رسول الله ﷺ أن يأتيه فذكر الحديث ولم يطوله كتطويل ابن أبي حازم
