A striped silk garment was presented as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he sent it on to me, so I wore it. Then I saw anger in his face, and he said, "I did not send it to you so that you could wear it. I sent it to you so that you would tear it up into head coverings for the women."In the narration of Muaz, he added, "So he instructed me, and I distributed it among my womenfolk."In the narration of Muhammad bin Jafar it reads, "So I distributed it among my womenfolk," without mentioning, "So he instructed me."
