Salim bin Abdullah said to me regarding istabraq, I said, "It is the thick, coarse type of brocade."He said, I heard Abdullah bin Umar say, Umar saw a garment of istabraq on a man, so he brought it to the Prophet ﷺ. He then mentioned something similar to their narration, except that he said, "I only sent it to you so that you might gain some wealth from it."
حدثني محمد بن المثنى حدثنا عبد الصمد قال سمعت أبي يحدث قال
قال لي سالم بن عبد الله في الإستبرق قال قلت ما غلظ من الديباج وخشن منه فقال سمعت عبد الله بن عمر يقولا رأى عمر على رجل حلة من إستبرق فأتى بها النبي ﷺ فذكر نحو حديثهم غير أنه قال فقال إنما بعثت بها إليك لتصيب بها مالا
