The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people during one of his military expeditions. Ibn Umar said, "I went toward him, but he finished before I could reach him, so I asked what he had said."They replied, "He forbade making nabidh in gourds and in vessels coated with pitch."
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى قال قرأت على مالك عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب الناس في بعض مغازيه قال ابن عمر فأقبلت نحوه فانصرف قبل أن أبلغه فسألت ماذا قال قالوا نهى أن ينتبذ في الدباء والمزفت
Muslim narrated, through Abu Zubayr, from Ibn Umar, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbidding the fermented drink made in a jar, a gourd, or a tar-coated vessel.Nafi contradicted him. Ayub, Ubaydullah, Yahya bin Saeed, Malik, and Layth all narrated from Nafi that Ibn Umar used to ask people what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had said about it. Muslim narrated these reports, but Bukhari did not narrate any of them.
