Ayesha reported,

Saad's wound had begun to close and heal, so he prayed, "O Allah, You know there is no people I would rather fight for Your sake than a people who rejected Your Messenger ﷺ and drove him out. O Allah, if any war with Quraysh still remains, spare me so that I may fight them for Your sake. O Allah, I sense that You have brought the war between us and them to an end. If You have indeed ended the war between us and them, then let this wound burst open and let my death come through it."His wound burst open at the base of his throat. The first thing the people in a tent of Banu Ghifar pitched alongside his in the mosque noticed was blood flowing toward them. They called out, "People of that tent, what is this coming to us from your direction?" There was Saad, his wound gushing blood, and he died from it.
