I wrote to Nafi asking him about the call to Islam before fighting, and he wrote back to me saying that this was only in the early days of Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Banu Mustaliq while they were unaware, their livestock being watered at the water source. He killed those who fought and took the rest captive, and on that day he obtained, as Yahya said, "I think he said Juwayria," or else he said definitely, the daughter of Harith.Nafi added, "Abdullah bin Umar related this hadith to me, and he was in that army."He said Juwayria bint Harith without any hesitation.
