The Prophet ﷺ used to administer forty lashes for drinking wine, using sandals and palm-branches. Then he mentioned something similar to their hadith, but did not mention the countryside and villages.
و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع عن هشام عن قتادة
أن النبي ﷺ كان يضرب في الخمر بالنعال والجريد أربعين ثم ذكر نحو حديثهما ولم يذكر الريف والقرى
