A Jewish man and a Jewish woman who had committed adultery were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out until he came to the Jews and asked them, "What penalty do you find in the Torah for one who commits adultery?"They replied, "We blacken their faces, mount them on animals facing away from each other, and parade them about."He said, "Bring the Torah, if you are truthful."So they brought it and began reading from it, but when they came to the verse of stoning, the young man who was reading placed his hand over that verse and read what came before it and what came after it.Abdullah bin Salam, who was there with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to him, "Order him to lift his hand."He lifted it, and there beneath it was the verse of stoning. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the order concerning the two of them, and they were stoned.Abdullah bin Umar said, "I was among those who stoned them, and I saw the man shielding her from the stones with his own body."
و حدثنا زهير بن حرب حدثنا إسمعيل يعني ابن علية عن أيوب ح و حدثني أبو الطاهر أخبرنا عبد الله بن وهب أخبرني رجال من أهل العلم منهم مالك بن أنس أن نافعا أخبرهم عن ابن عمر أن رسول الله ﷺ رجم في الزنى يهوديين رجلا وامرأة زنيا فأتت اليهود إلى رسول الله ﷺ بهما وساقوا الحديث بنحوه
