Abu Hurairah reported,

A man from among the Muslims came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque and called out to him, saying, "Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery."The Prophet turned away from him. The man moved to face him again and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery."The Prophet turned away from him once more. The man repeated this until he had testified against himself four times. When he had given testimony against himself four times, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him over and asked, "Are you mad?"He replied, "No."The Prophet asked, "Are you married?"He replied, "Yes."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take him away and stone him."Ibn Shihab said, A man who heard Jabir bin Abdullah told me that he said, "I was among those who stoned him. We stoned him at the prayer ground, and when the stones struck him hard, he fled. We caught up with him at al-Harrah and stoned him there."
