The Prophet ﷺ said, "Time has come full circle and returned to the form it had on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, four of which are sacred. Three are consecutive, Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, and Muharram, and there is Rajab of Mudar, which falls between Jumada and Shaban."Then he asked, "What month is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He fell silent until we thought he was going to give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?"We said, "Yes."He asked, "What land is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He fell silent until we thought he was going to give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not the Sacred Town?"We said, "Yes."He asked, "What day is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He fell silent until we thought he was going to give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?"We said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Your blood and your property," Muhammad said, and I think he also said, "and your honor, are sacred to one another, just as this day of yours is sacred, in this land of yours, in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will question you about your deeds. So do not return after me to disbelief or misguidance, striking the necks of one another. Let those present convey this to those absent, for perhaps some who receive it will retain it better than some who heard it directly."Then he said, "Have I conveyed the message?"Ibn Habib said in his narration, "and Rajab of Mudar." In the narration of Abu Bakr, "do not return after me."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة ويحيى بن حبيب الحارثي وتقاربا في اللفظ قالا حدثنا عبد الوهاب الثقفي عن أيوب عن ابن سيرين عن ابن أبي بكرة
عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال إن الزمان قد استدار كهيئته يوم خلق الله السماوات والأرض السنة اثنا عشر شهرا منها أربعة حرم ثلاثة متواليات ذو القعدة وذو الحجة والمحرم ورجب شهر مضر الذي بين جمادى وشعبان ثم قال أي شهر هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم قال فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس ذا الحجة قلنا بلى قال فأي بلد هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم قال فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس البلدة قلنا بلى قال فأي يوم هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم قال فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس يوم النحر قلنا بلى يا رسول الله قال فإن دماءكم وأموالكم قال محمد وأحسبه قال وأعراضكم حرام عليكم كحرمة يومكم هذا في بلدكم هذا في شهركم هذا وستلقون ربكم فيسألكم عن أعمالكم فلا ترجعن بعدي كفارا أو ضلالا يضرب بعضكم رقاب بعض ألا ليبلغ الشاهد الغائب فلعل بعض من يبلغه يكون أوعى له من بعض من سمعه ثم قال ألا هل بلغت قال ابن حبيب في روايته ورجب مضر وفي رواية أبي بكر فلا ترجعوا بعدي
