Muhaysa bin Masud and Abdullah bin Sahl set out for Khaybar, and they parted ways among the palm groves. Abdullah bin Sahl was killed, and they suspected the Jews of his murder.His brother Abdul-Rahman, along with his cousins Huwaysa and Muhaysa, came to the Prophet ﷺ. Abdul-Rahman, the youngest of them, began to speak about his brother's case.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let the eldest speak first," or he said, "Let the older one begin."So the two older men spoke about their companion's case.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fifty of you may swear an oath against one of them, and he will be handed over to you."They said, "How can we swear about a matter we did not witness?"He said, "Then the Jews can clear themselves by the oaths of fifty of them."They said, "Messenger of Allah, they are a disbelieving people."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid the blood-money himself.Sahl said, "I entered an enclosure of theirs one day, and a she-camel from those camels kicked me with its leg."Hammad said, "This, or something similar."
و حدثني عبيد الله بن عمر القواريري حدثنا حماد بن زيد حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن بشير بن يسار
أن محيصة بن مسعود وعبد الله بن سهل انطلقا قبل خيبر فتفرقا في النخل فقتل عبد الله بن سهل فاتهموا اليهود فجاء أخوه عبد الرحمن وابنا عمه حويصة ومحيصة إلى النبي ﷺ فتكلم عبد الرحمن في أمر أخيه وهو أصغر منهم فقال رسول الله ﷺ كبر الكبر أو قال ليبدأ الأكبر فتكلما في أمر صاحبهما فقال رسول الله ﷺ يقسم خمسون منكم على رجل منهم فيدفع برمته قالوا أمر لم نشهده كيف نحلف قال فتبرئكم يهود بأيمان خمسين منهم قالوا يا رسول الله قوم كفار قال فوداه رسول الله ﷺ من قبله قال سهل فدخلت مربدا لهم يوما فركضتني ناقة من تلك الإبل ركضة برجلها قال حماد هذا أو نحوه
