Abdullah bin Umar reported that Umar bin Khattab asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while he was at Jiranah after returning from Taif, "Messenger of Allah, during the days of ignorance I vowed to spend a day in retreat in Masjid al-Haram. What do you think of that?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Go and spend a day in retreat."Abdullah continued, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given Umar a slave girl from the fifth. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ freed the captives held by the people, Umar bin Khattab heard their voices calling out, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has set us free!'He asked, "What is this?"They answered, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has freed the captives held by the people."So Umar said, "Abdullah, go to that slave girl and let her go free."
و حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة الضبي حدثنا حماد بن زيد حدثنا أيوب عن نافع قال ذكر عند ابن عمر عمرة رسول الله ﷺ من الجعرانة فقال لم يعتمر منها قال وكان عمر نذر اعتكاف ليلة في الجاهلية ثم ذكر نحو حديث جرير بن حازم ومعمر عن أيوب
