Talha bin Musarrif reported,

I asked Abdullah bin Abu Awfa whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left a will, and he said, "No."I said, "Then why was making a will prescribed for the Muslims?" or "Then why were they commanded to make a will?"He replied, "He enjoined the Book of Allah ."

و حدثناه أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع ح و حدثنا ابن نمير حدثنا أبي كلاهما عن مالك بن مغول بهذا الإسناد مثله غير أن في حديث وكيع قلت فكيف أمر الناس بالوصية وفي حديث ابن نمير قلت كيف كتب على المسلمين الوصية
