Jabir reported, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me while I was ill and unconscious. He performed wudu, and they poured some of his wudu water over me, and I regained consciousness. I said, 'Messenger of Allah, only distant relatives will inherit from me.' Then the verse of inheritance was revealed."Shuba said, "I asked Muhammad bin Munkadir, 'Is it 'They ask you for a ruling. Say, Allah gives you a ruling concerning those who leave neither ascendants nor descendants' [Nisa 4:176]?'"Ibn Munkadir replied, "That is how it was revealed."In the version of Wahb bin Jareer it says, "Then the verse of the fixed shares of inheritance was revealed," and in the version of Nadr and Aqadi, "Then the verse of the fixed share was revealed." None of their narrations contain Shuba's exchange with Ibn Munkadir.
حدثنا إسحق بن إبراهيم أخبرنا النضر بن شميل وأبو عامر العقدي ح و حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا وهب بن جرير كلهم عن شعبة بهذا الإسناد في حديث وهب بن جرير فنزلت آية الفرائض وفي حديث النضر والعقدي فنزلت آية الفرض وليس في رواية أحد منهم قول شعبة لابن المنكدر
