I asked Ibn Abbas about currency exchange. He asked, "Hand to hand?"I said, "Yes."He said, "Then there is no harm in it."So I informed Abu Saeed. I said, "I asked Ibn Abbas about currency exchange and he asked, 'Hand to hand?' I said yes, and he said there is no harm in it."Abu Saeed said, "Did he really say that? We are going to write to him so that he will not give you such a verdict. By Allah, one of the young servants of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once brought him some dates, but he did not recognize them and said, 'These do not seem to be from the dates of our land.'The young man replied, 'There was something wrong with the dates of our land this year, so I took these and gave a little extra in exchange.'The Prophet ﷺ said, 'You have doubled, you have committed usury. Do not go near this. If anything about your dates troubles you, then sell them, and then buy the kind of dates you want.'"

سألت ابن عباس عن الصرف فقال أيدا بيد قلت نعم قال فلا بأس به فأخبرت أبا سعيد فقلت إني سألت ابن عباس عن الصرف فقال أيدا بيد قلت نعم قال فلا بأس به قال أوقال ذلك إنا سنكتب إليه فلا يفتيكموه قال فوالله لقد جاء بعض فتيان رسول الله ﷺ بتمر فأنكره فقال كأن هذا ليس من تمر أرضنا قال كان في تمر أرضنا أو في تمرنا العام بعض الشيء فأخذت هذا وزدت بعض الزيادة فقال أضعفت أربيت لا تقربن هذا إذا رابك من تمرك شيء فبعه ثم اشتر الذي تريد من التمر
