Umar was informed that Samura had sold wine, so he said, "May Allah destroy Samura. Did he not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'May Allah curse the Jews. Fat was forbidden to them, so they melted it down and sold it'?"
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وزهير بن حرب وإسحق بن إبراهيم واللفظ لأبي بكر قالوا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عمرو عن طاوس
بلغ عمر أن سمرة باع خمرا فقال قاتل الله سمرة ألم يعلم أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لعن الله اليهود حرمت عليهم الشحوم فجملوها فباعوها
Both of them (Bukhari and Muslim) reported the hadith of Amr, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, from Umar, "May Allah fight Samura," on the authority of Ibn Uyayna and Rawh bin Qasim, from Amr. Hammad bin Zayd narrated it as mursal, from Amr, from Tawus, from Umar. Walid likewise said it, from Hanzala, from Tawus, from Umar. And Allah knows best.
Al-Hafiz said in the introduction to Fath (Muqaddimat al-Fath), page 360, after mentioning Daraqutni's statement, I say, Ibn Uyayna stated explicitly, on the authority of Amr, that Tawus heard it directly from Ibn Abbas, and Ibn Uyayna is the most retentive of people regarding Amr's hadith, so his narration is the preferred one. Rawh bin Qasim also corroborated him in this. Muslim narrated it through his route. End.
