He was a man from Shanuah, one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever keeps a dog that does not benefit him in farming or guarding livestock, a qirat is deducted from his deeds each day.'"Zirr asked him, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes, by the Lord of this mosque."
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى قال قرأت على مالك عن يزيد بن خصيفة أن السائب بن يزيد أخبره أنه سمع
وهو رجل من شنوءة من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من اقتنى كلبا لا يغني عنه زرعا ولا ضرعا نقص من عمله كل يوم قيراط قال آنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ قال إي ورب هذا المسجد
