When Hudhayfah returned from Umar, he sat down and narrated to us, saying, "Yesterday, when I sat with the Commander of the Faithful, he asked his companions, 'Which of you remembers the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning the trials?'"He then continued the hadith just as Abu Khalid's version, but did not mention Abu Malik's explanation of the words "murbaddan mujakhkhiyan."

لما قدم حذيفة من عند عمر جلس فحدثنا فقال إن أمير المؤمنين أمس لما جلست إليه سأل أصحابه أيكم يحفظ قول رسول الله ﷺ في الفتن وساق الحديث بمثل حديث أبي خالد ولم يذكر تفسير أبي مالك لقوله مربادا مجخيا
