The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got married and consummated his marriage with his wife. My mother Umm Sulaym prepared a dish of hays and put it in a stone bowl. She said, "Anas, take this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and tell him, 'My mother sent this to you and conveys her greetings of peace, saying that this is a small gift for you from us, Messenger of Allah.'"So I took it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "My mother sends you greetings of peace and says that this is a small gift for you from us, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Set it down." Then he said, "Go and call so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so for me, and whoever you meet," and he named some men.So I called those he named and whomever I met.I said to Anas, "How many were they in number?"He said, "About three hundred."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Anas, bring the bowl."The people came in until the porch and the room were filled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let them form circles of ten, and let each person eat from what is nearest to him."They ate until they were satisfied. One group would leave and another would come in, until all of them had eaten. Then he said to me, "Anas, take it away."So I took it away, and I do not know whether there was more food when I set it down or when I took it away.Some groups of them sat talking in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting and his wife had turned her face toward the wall. They became burdensome to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he went out and greeted his wives, then returned. When they saw that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had returned, they realized that they had been a burden to him, and they rushed to the door and all went out.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and let down the curtain and entered, while I was sitting in the room. He did not stay long before he came out to me, and these verses had been revealed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and recited them to the people, "Believers, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, without waiting for it to be prepared. But when you are invited, then enter, and when you have eaten, disperse, without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that used to trouble the Prophet" [Ahzab 33:53] to the end of the verse.Jad said that Anas bin Malik said, "I am the person with the most recent knowledge of these verses, and the wives of the Prophet ﷺ were veiled from that point on."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا جعفر يعني ابن سليمان عن الجعد أبي عثمان
تزوج رسول الله ﷺ فدخل بأهله قال فصنعت أمي أم سليم حيسا فجعلته في تور فقالت يا أنس اذهب بهذا إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقل بعثت بهذا إليك أمي وهي تقرئك السلام وتقول إن هذا لك منا قليل يا رسول الله قال فذهبت بها إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقلت إن أمي تقرئك السلام وتقول إن هذا لك منا قليل يا رسول الله فقال ضعه ثم قال اذهب فادع لي فلانا وفلانا وفلانا ومن لقيت وسمى رجالا قال فدعوت من سمى ومن لقيت قال قلت لأنس عدد كم كانوا قال زهاء ثلاث مائة وقال لي رسول الله ﷺ يا أنس هات التور قال فدخلوا حتى امتلأت الصفة والحجرة فقال رسول الله ﷺ ليتحلق عشرة عشرة وليأكل كل إنسان مما يليه قال فأكلوا حتى شبعوا قال فخرجت طائفة ودخلت طائفة حتى أكلوا كلهم فقال لي يا أنس ارفع قال فرفعت فما أدري حين وضعت كان أكثر أم حين رفعت قال وجلس طوائف منهم يتحدثون في بيت رسول الله ﷺ ورسول الله ﷺ جالس وزوجته مولية وجهها إلى الحائط فثقلوا على رسول الله ﷺ فخرج رسول الله ﷺ فسلم على نسائه ثم رجع فلما رأوا رسول الله ﷺ قد رجع ظنوا أنهم قد ثقلوا عليه قال فابتدروا الباب فخرجوا كلهم وجاء رسول الله ﷺ حتى أرخى الستر ودخل وأنا جالس في الحجرة فلم يلبث إلا يسيرا حتى خرج علي وأنزلت هذه الآية فخرج رسول الله ﷺ وقرأهن على الناس {يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير ناظرين إناه ولكن إذا دعيتم فادخلوا فإذا طعمتم فانتشروا ولا مستأنسين لحديث إن ذلكم كان يؤذي النبي} إلى آخر الآية قال الجعد قال أنس بن مالك أنا أحدث الناس عهدا بهذه الآيات وحجبن نساء النبي ﷺ
