Umar bin Ubaydullah wanted to marry Talha bin Umar to the daughter of Shayba bin Jubayr, so he sent word to Abban bin Uthman, who was the leader of the Hajj, asking him to attend the wedding.Abban said, "I heard Uthman bin Affan say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A person in the state of ihram must not marry, must not give in marriage, and must not propose marriage.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى قال قرأت على مالك عن نافع
أن عمر بن عبيد الله أراد أن يزوج طلحة بن عمر بنت شيبة بن جبير فأرسل إلى أبان بن عثمان يحضر ذلك وهو أمير الحج فقال أبان سمعت عثمان بن عفان يقولا قال رسول الله ﷺ لا ينكح المحرم ولا ينكح ولا يخطب
Muslim included two hadiths of Nubayh, and both are sahih, so there is no excuse for Bukhari to have left them out. As for the hadith about the marriage of one in ihram, it was narrated from Nubayh by a group of trustworthy narrators, said to include Nafi, Bukayr Ashaj, Ayub bin Musa, Saeed bin Abu Hilal, and Abdul-Ala and Abdul-Jabbar, the two sons of Nubayh.It was narrated from Nafi by Ayub, Ubaydullah, Malik, Yahya bin Abu Kathir, Shuayb, Saeed bin Abdul-Aziz, Fulayh, and others, as well as by Maymun bin Yahya, from Ghaziya, from his father. It was also narrated by Ibn Uyayna, Layth, and Abdul-Warith, from Ayub bin Musa, from Nubayh.With this same chain of transmission, the hadith about dressing a wound with aloe three times was likewise narrated, from Ayub bin Musa, from Nubayh.
