I was sitting with Ibn Umar when a man came to him and asked, "Is it permissible for me to perform tawaf around the House before going to the standing place at Arafat?"Ibn Umar replied, "Yes."The man said, "But Ibn Abbas says, 'Do not perform tawaf around the House until you have gone to the standing place.'"Ibn Umar responded, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Hajj and made tawaf around the House before going to the standing place. So is the statement of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more deserving to be followed, or the statement of Ibn Abbas, if you are truthful?"
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى أخبرنا عبثر عن إسمعيل بن أبي خالد
كنت جالسا عند ابن عمر فجاءه رجل فقال أيصلح لي أن أطوف بالبيت قبل أن آتي الموقف فقال نعم فقال فإن ابن عباس يقول لا تطف بالبيت حتى تأتي الموقف فقال ابن عمر فقد حج رسول الله ﷺ فطاف بالبيت قبل أن يأتي الموقف فبقول رسول الله ﷺ أحق أن تأخذ أو بقول ابن عباس إن كنت صادقا
