Ata reported that Jabir said, "We, the companions of Muhammad ﷺ, entered the state of ihram intending Hajj alone, exclusively."Ata said that Jabir said, "The Prophet ﷺ arrived on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah and ordered us to release ourselves from ihram."Ata said, "He said, 'Release yourselves and have relations with your wives.'"Ata added, "He did not command them firmly, but rather permitted the women to them."We said, "When there are only five days between us and Arafah, he orders us to be intimate with our wives so that we will arrive at Arafah with semen dripping from our private parts?"Jabir gestured with his hand as he said this. It is as if I can still see him moving his hand.Then the Prophet ﷺ stood among us and said, "You know that I am the most God-fearing of you, the most truthful of you, and the most pious of you. Were it not for my sacrificial animal, I would have released myself from ihram as you do. If I could revisit my decision with what I now know, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal. So release yourselves from ihram."So we released ourselves, and we listened and obeyed.Ata said that Jabir said, "Then Ali arrived from his expedition."The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "With what intention did you enter ihram?"Ali replied, "With whatever the Prophet ﷺ entered ihram for."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Then offer a sacrifice and remain in ihram."Ali had brought a sacrificial animal for him.Suraqa bin Malik bin Jushum asked, "Messenger of Allah, is this for this year of ours only, or forever?"He answered, "Forever."
و حدثني محمد بن حاتم حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن ابن جريج أخبرني عطاء قال سمعت
في ناس معي قال أهللنا أصحاب محمد ﷺ بالحج خالصا وحده قال عطاء قال جابر فقدم النبي ﷺ صبح رابعة مضت من ذي الحجة فأمرنا أن نحل قال عطاء قال حلوا وأصيبوا النساء قال عطاء ولم يعزم عليهم ولكن أحلهن لهم فقلنا لما لم يكن بيننا وبين عرفة إلا خمس أمرنا أن نفضي إلى نسائنا فنأتي عرفة تقطر مذاكيرنا المني قال يقول جابر بيده كأني أنظر إلى قوله بيده يحركها قال فقام النبي ﷺ فينا فقال قد علمتم أني أتقاكم لله وأصدقكم وأبركم ولولا هديي لحللت كما تحلون ولو استقبلت من أمري ما استدبرت لم أسق الهدي فحلوا فحللنا وسمعنا وأطعنا قال عطاء قال جابر فقدم علي من سعايته فقال بم أهللت قال بما أهل به النبي ﷺ فقال له رسول الله ﷺ فأهد وامكث حراما قال وأهدى له علي هديا فقال سراقة بن مالك بن جعشم يا رسول الله ألعامنا هذا أم لأبد فقال لأبد
