Umar bin Ubaydullah bin Muamar developed an eye inflammation and wanted to apply kohl to it, but Abban bin Uthman forbade him from doing so and instructed him to dress it with aloes. He then narrated from Uthman bin Affan, from the Prophet ﷺ, that he had done the same.

أن عمر بن عبيد الله بن معمر رمدت عينه فأراد أن يكحلها فنهاه أبان بن عثمان وأمره أن يضمدها بالصبر وحدث عن عثمان بن عفان عن النبي ﷺ أنه فعل ذلك
