We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until, when we were at al-Qahah, some of us were in the state of ihram and some were not. Suddenly I noticed my companions looking intently at something. I looked, and there was a wild donkey. So I saddled my horse and took my spear, then mounted. My whip fell from me, and I said to my companions, who were in ihram, "Hand me the whip."They replied, "By Allah, we will not help you with it in any way."So I dismounted, picked it up, then mounted again. I caught up with the donkey from behind, while it was beyond a small hill, and I struck it with my spear and brought it down. I brought it to my companions, and some of them said, "Eat it," while others said, "Do not eat it."The Prophet ﷺ was ahead of us, so I urged my horse on and caught up with him.He said, "It is lawful, so eat it."
و حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا سفيان عن صالح بن كيسان ح و حدثنا ابن أبي عمر واللفظ له حدثنا سفيان حدثنا صالح بن كيسان قال سمعت أبا محمد مولى أبي قتادة يقول سمعت
ا خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ حتى إذا كنا بالقاحة فمنا المحرم ومنا غير المحرم إذ بصرت بأصحابي يتراءون شيئا فنظرت فإذا حمار وحش فأسرجت فرسي وأخذت رمحي ثم ركبت فسقط مني سوطي فقلت لأصحابي وكانوا محرمين ناولوني السوط فقالوا والله لا نعينك عليه بشيء فنزلت فتناولته ثم ركبت فأدركت الحمار من خلفه وهو وراء أكمة فطعنته برمحي فعقرته فأتيت به أصحابي فقال بعضهم كلوه وقال بعضهم لا تأكلوه وكان النبي ﷺ أمامنا فحركت فرسي فأدركته فقال هو حلال فكلوه
