When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to combine two prayers while traveling, he would delay the Zuhr prayer until the beginning of the time for Asr, then he would combine them.

كان النبي ﷺ إذا أراد أن يجمع بين الصلاتين في السفر أخر الظهر حتى يدخل أول وقت العصر ثم يجمع بينهما
