I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grieve over any expedition the way he grieved over the seventy who were killed at the Day of Bir Maunah. They were known as the Reciters, and he spent a month invoking against those who killed them.

ا ما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ وجد على سرية ما وجد على السبعين الذين أصيبوا يوم بئر معونة كانوا يدعون القراء فمكث شهرا يدعو على قتلتهم
