The Messenger of Allah ﷺ noticed certain people missing from some of the prayers, so he said, "I have been tempted to order a man to lead the people in prayer, then go to the men who stay behind and order that their houses be burned down upon them with bundles of firewood. If any one of them knew he would find a meaty bone, he would attend it," meaning the night prayer.
و حدثني عمرو الناقد حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج
أن رسول الله ﷺ فقد ناسا في بعض الصلوات فقال لقد هممت أن آمر رجلا يصلي بالناس ثم أخالف إلى رجال يتخلفون عنها فآمر بهم فيحرقوا عليهم بحزم الحطب بيوتهم ولو علم أحدهم أنه يجد عظما سمينا لشهدها يعني صلاة العشاء
