Except for Dahhak and Ibn Ajlan, who added in their narration, "from Ibn Abbas, from Ali, from the Prophet ﷺ." All of them said, "He forbade me from reciting the Quran while bowing." They did not mention in their narration the prohibition against reciting it during prostration, as was mentioned by Zuhri, Zayd bin Aslam, Walid bin Kathir, and Dawud bin Qays.

Muslim narrated the hadith of Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hunain, from his father, from Ibn Abbas, from Ali, "The Messenger of Allah forbade me from reciting the Quran while bowing or prostrating," through the narration of Ibn Ajlan, Dawud bin Qays, and Dahhak bin Uthman, from him. A group of narrators who were more precise in memory, higher in the chain, and greater in number contradicted them, among them Nafi, Zuhri, Zayd bin Aslam, Yazid bin Abu Habib, Usama bin Zayd, Walid bin Kathir, Muhammad bin Amr, Ibn Ishaq, and Sharik bin Abu Nimr, though there is disagreement about his narration, as well as about the narrations of Nafi and Usama bin Zayd.Muhammad bin Munkadir followed them, narrating from Abdullah bin Hunain, from Ali. Shubah said, narrating from Abu Bakr bin Hafs, from Ibn Hunain, from Ibn Abbas.Muslim narrated the hadith of Shubah, from Abu Bakr bin Hafs, from Ibn Hunain, from Ibn Abbas, "I was forbidden from reciting the Quran while bowing or prostrating." But the correct version is from Ali.
