Yahya bin Saeed reported,

Umar bin Khattab went out on the day after the day of sacrifice, when the day had risen somewhat, and he pronounced the takbir, and the people pronounced the takbir along with him. Then he went out a second time that same day, after the day had risen further, and he pronounced the takbir, and the people pronounced the takbir along with him. Then he went out a third time, when the sun had passed its zenith, and he pronounced the takbir, and the people pronounced the takbir along with him, until the takbir joined together and reached the House, so it was known that Umar had gone out to throw the pebbles.
