A man from Yemen came to Abdullah bin Umar with his hair braided and said, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, I have come intending a separate umrah."Abdullah bin Umar said to him, "Had I been with you, or had you asked me, I would have told you to combine the two."The Yemeni said, "That is what happened."Abdullah bin Umar said, "Then trim off whatever of your hair sticks out, and offer a sacrifice."A woman from Iraq asked, "What sacrifice, Abu Abdul-Rahman?"He replied, "A sacrifice."She said to him, "What is a sacrifice?"Abdullah bin Umar answered, "Even if I could find nothing more than a sheep to slaughter, that would be dearer to me than fasting."
وحدثني يحيى عن مالك،
أن رجلا من أهل اليمن جاء إلى عبد الله بن عمر، وقد ضفر رأسه. فقال: يا أبا عبد الرحمن إني قدمت بعمرة مفردة. فقال له عبد الله بن عمر: لو كنت معك، أو سألتني، لأمرتك أن تقرن. فقال اليماني: قد كان ذلك. فقال عبد الله بن عمر: خذ ما تطاير من رأسك، وأهد. فقالت امرأة من أهل العراق: ما هدية يا أبا عبد الرحمن؟ فقال: هدية. فقالت له: ما هدية؟ فقال عبد الله بن عمر: لو لم أجد إلا أن أذبح شاة، لكان أحب إلي من أن أصوم.
