He asked Abu Hurairah about the times of prayer, and Abu Hurairah replied, "I will tell you. Pray Dhuhr when your shadow equals your own height, and Asr when your shadow is twice your height. Pray Maghrib when the sun has set, and Isha any time up to the first third of the night. And pray the dawn prayer in the darkness," meaning the last darkness before daybreak.
و حدثني عن مالك عن يزيد بن زياد
أنه سأل أبا هريرة عن وقت الصلاة فقال أبو هريرة أنا أخبرك صل الظهر إذا كان ظلك مثلك والعصر إذا كان ظلك مثليك والمغرب إذا غربت الشمس والعشاء ما بينك وبين ثلث الليل وصل الصبح بغبش يعني الغلس
