Sulayman bin Yasar reported,

Habbar bin Aswad arrived on the Day of Sacrifice while Umar bin Khattab was slaughtering his sacrificial animal. He said, "Commander of the Faithful, we miscalculated the days. We thought today was the Day of Arafah."Umar replied, "Go to Makkah and perform the circuits, you and those with you. Slaughter a sacrificial animal if you have one with you, then shave your heads or trim your hair, and return home. Then when the following year comes, perform the Hajj and offer a sacrifice. Whoever cannot find one must fast three days during the Hajj and seven after he returns."

أن هبار بن الأسود جاء يوم النحر وعمر بن الخطاب ينحر هديه فقال يا أمير المؤمنين أخطأنا العدة كنا نرى أن هذا اليوم يوم عرفة فقال عمر اذهب إلى مكة فطف أنت ومن معك وانحروا هديا إن كان معكم ثم احلقوا أو قصروا وارجعوا فإذا كان عام قابل فحجوا وأهدوا فمن لم يجد فصيام ثلاثة أيام في الحج وسبعة إذا رجع
