Ibn Shihab reported,

Whoever offers a camel as a penalty, or in fulfillment of a vow, or as the offering for combining the minor and major pilgrimage, and it meets with some mishap along the way, must provide a replacement for it.

و حدثني عن مالك

عن ابن شهاب أنه قال

من أهدى بدنة جزاء أو نذرا أو هدي تمتع فأصيبت في الطريق فعليه البدل
