If someone drives a sacrificial camel as a voluntary offering and it becomes disabled, and he slaughters it and then leaves it for the people to eat from, he bears no liability. But if he eats from it himself, or instructs anyone to eat from it, he must pay compensation for it.
وحدثني عن مالك، عن ابن شهاب،
من ساق بدنة تطوعا، فعطبت، فنحرها، ثم خلى بينها وبين الناس يأكلونها؛ فليس عليه شيء. وإن أكل منها؛ أو أمر من يأكل منها؛ غرمها.
