Sawda bint Abdullah bin Umar was married to Urwa bin Zubayr. She once went out on foot to make the rounds between Safa and Marwa during a Hajj or an Umrah, and she was a heavy woman. She arrived just as the people were leaving the evening prayer, and she still had not finished her circuits by the time the first call for the dawn prayer was given, so she completed what remained of them in the interval between that call and the prayer itself.Whenever Urwa saw people making these rounds while riding, he would forbid them in the strongest terms, and out of embarrassment before him they would offer illness as their excuse. Then he would say to us privately, "These people have failed and lost."
