Anas bin Malik grew so old that he was no longer able to fast, so he would give food in place of it.Malik said, "I do not consider that obligatory, though I prefer that a person do it if he is strong enough for it. Whoever does give such compensation feeds one measure of food for each day, using the Prophet's measure."
حدثني يحني
أن أنس بن مالك كبر حتى كان لا يقدر على الصيام، فكان يفتدي. قال مالك: ولا أرى ذلك واجبا، وأحب إلي أن يفعله إذا كان قويا عليه فمن فدى فإنما يطعم مكان كل يوم مدا بمد النبي.
