The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The month is twenty-nine days. Do not fast until you see the crescent, and do not break the fast until you see it. If it is hidden from you by clouds, then estimate its measure."
و حدثني عن مالك عن عبد الله بن دينار
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال الشهر تسع وعشرون فلا تصوموا حتى تروا الهلال ولا تفطروا حتى تروه فإن غم عليكم فاقدروا له
