Malik reported,

One of Umar bin Abdul-Aziz's officials wrote to him reporting that a certain man had withheld the zakat due on his wealth. Umar wrote back to him, "Leave him alone, and do not take zakat from him along with the Muslims."

عن مالك، أنه بلغه

أن عاملا لعمر بن عبد العزيز كتب إليه يذكر: أن رجلا منع زكاة ماله، فكتب إليه عمر: أن دعه، ولا تأخذ منه زكاة مع المسلمين.
