The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is struck by a misfortune and says, as Allah has commanded, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return' [Baqarah 2:156], 'Allah, reward me for my misfortune and give me something better in its place,' Allah will surely do that for him."Umm Salama said, "When Abu Salama died, I said those words, then I said, 'And who could be better than Abu Salama?'" Then Allah gave her His Messenger ﷺ in his place, and he married her.
و حدثني عن مالك عن ربيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال من أصابته مصيبة فقال كما أمر الله {إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون} اللهم أجرني في مصيبتي وأعقبني خيرا منها إلا فعل الله ذلك به قالت أم سلمة فلما توفي أبو سلمة قلت ذلك ثم قلت ومن خير من أبي سلمة فأعقبها الله رسوله ﷺ فتزوجها
