While Abu Bakr Siddiq was ill, he asked Ayesha, "In how many garments was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shrouded?"She replied, "In three white Suhuli cloths."Abu Bakr said, pointing to a garment he was wearing that had been stained with red ochre or saffron, "Take this cloth, wash it, and then shroud me in it along with two other garments."Ayesha said, "Why this one?"Abu Bakr answered, "The living have more need of new clothes than the dead. This is only going to the decay of the grave."
و حدثني عن مالك
أن أبا بكر الصديق قال لعائشة وهو مريض في كم كفن رسول الله ﷺ فقالت في ثلاثة أثواب بيض سحولية فقال أبو بكر خذوا هذا الثوب لثوب عليه قد أصابه مشق أو زعفران فاغسلوه ثم كفنوني فيه مع ثوبين آخرين فقالت عائشة وما هذا فقال أبو بكر الحي أحوج إلى الجديد من الميت وإنما هذا للمهلة
