Yahya bin Abdul-Rahman bin Hatib reported,

Umar bin Khattab set out with a party of riders that included Amr bin As, and they came to a watering trough.Amr bin As said to the owner of the trough, "You there, owner of the trough, do wild beasts come down to drink at your trough?"Umar bin Khattab said, "Owner of the trough, do not tell us. We come to the water after the beasts, and they come to it after us."

أن عمر بن الخطاب خرج في ركب فيهم عمرو بن العاص حتى وردوا حوضا فقال عمرو بن العاص لصاحب الحوض يا صاحب الحوض هل ترد حوضك السباع فقال عمر بن الخطاب يا صاحب الحوض لا تخبرنا فإنا نرد على السباع وترد علينا
