The sun was eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in prayer. He stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the ruku, then stood again and prolonged the standing, though it was shorter than the first standing, then bowed and prolonged the ruku, though it was shorter than the first ruku. Then he raised his head and prostrated. He did the same in the second rakat. Then he finished, and the sun had cleared. He then addressed the people, praising Allah and glorifying Him, and said, "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They are not eclipsed for anyone's death or for anyone's life. So when you see this, call upon Allah, proclaim His greatness, and give in charity."Then he said, "Community of Muhammad, by Allah, no one has greater jealousy than Allah that His male servant or His female servant should commit adultery. Community of Muhammad, by Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much."
