Abu Ubayd said, "I attended the Eid with Umar bin Khattab. He prayed, then turned away and delivered a sermon to the people. He said, 'These are two days on which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting, the day you break your fast, and the other day on which you eat from your sacrifice.'"
وحدثني عن مالك، عن ابن شهاب،
شهدت العيد مع عمر بن الخطاب، فصلى، ثم انصرف، فخطب الناس. فقال: إن هذين يومان نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن صيامهما، يوم فطركم من صيامكم، والآخر يوم تأكلون فيه من نسككم.
