He said to a man, "You are living in a time when those with understanding of the religion are many and those who recite are few, when the limits set by the Quran are carefully preserved though its letters are neglected, when few beg and many give, when people lengthen the prayer and shorten the sermon, and when they put their deeds ahead of their desires.But a time will come upon people when those with understanding of the religion are few and those who recite are many, when the letters of the Quran are preserved though its limits are neglected, when many beg and few give, when they lengthen the sermon and shorten the prayer, and when they put their desires ahead of their deeds."
و حدثني عن مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد أن
لإنسان إنك في زمان كثير فقهاؤه قليل قراؤه تحفظ فيه حدود القرآن وتضيع حروفه قليل من يسأل كثير من يعطي يطيلون فيه الصلاة ويقصرون الخطبة يبدون أعمالهم قبل أهوائهم وسيأتي على الناس زمان قليل فقهاؤه كثير قراؤه يحفظ فيه حروف القرآن وتضيع حدوده كثير من يسأل قليل من يعطي يطيلون فيه الخطبة ويقصرون الصلاة يبدون فيه أهواءهم قبل أعمالهم
