Malik reported,

Abdullah bin Umar used to say, "The prayer of the night and the day is two by two, giving the closing salutation after every two units of prayer."

أن عبد الله بن عمر كان يقول: صلاة الليل والنهار مثنى مثنى، يسلم من كل ركعتين
