The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man from the tribe of Banu Abd al-Ashhal to collect the charity. When the man returned, he asked the Prophet for some of the camels from the charity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, so much so that the anger was visible in his face. One of the signs by which anger could be recognized in his face was that his eyes would turn red.Then he said, "A man asks me for what is proper neither for me nor for him. If I refuse him, I dislike refusing, and if I give it to him, I have given him what is proper neither for me nor for him."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, I will never ask you for any of it again."
و حدثني عن مالك
أن رسول الله ﷺ استعمل رجلا من بني عبد الأشهل على الصدقة فلما قدم سأله إبلا من الصدقة فغضب رسول الله ﷺ حتى عرف الغضب في وجهه وكان مما يعرف به الغضب في وجهه أن تحمر عيناه ثم قال إن الرجل ليسألني ما لا يصلح لي ولا له فإن منعته كرهت المنع وإن أعطيته أعطيته ما لا يصلح لي ولا له فقال الرجل يا رسول الله لا أسألك منها شيئا أبدا
